01

The Name

An academic legend inspired the name “Carberry.”

Josiah S. Carberry is a fictional professor famous for his work in “psychoceramics,” the study of cracked pots. Carberry Partners funds entrepreneurs like you who might seem unorthodox now. Some might even call you a crackpot for pursuing your venture. But you live in a future that hasn’t yet arrived, making you an excellent futurist and investment candidate.

02 — The Mark

Kintsugi celebrates fractures as a beautiful part of an object’s history.

Our mark is drawn from the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold. Rooted in this philosophy of finding beauty in blemishes, we look past early-stage imperfections to spot raw potential and the golden joinery of resilience.

03

Origin

An observation and an opportunity sparked Carberry.

For five years, the nonprofit StartOut iterated and refined two of the country's top accelerator programs: Spark Lab and Growth Lab. The Labs helped over 150 ventures improve their products, teams, sales, and operations. But as a nonprofit, StartOut can’t invest in the ventures it helps grow. We designed Carberry's Fund I to financially support and accelerate the most promising StartOut portfolio ventures and to give LPs an opportunity to invest in those founders.
